Naked Cowboy in Daytona Beach during Bike Week

 Yep, today I share with you a video of our friend The Naked Cowboy that most of the movie was filmed in Daytona Beach during Biketoberfest. The song is funny and the video shows many of the hot spots on Main Street in Daytona Beach.

Recently the Naked Cowboy filed suit against Mars the makers of M & Ms candy for using the candy in commercials with his likeness. I wish Robert Burck all the luck with the suit as to me it appears obvious that the company clearly used his icon in the commercial without his permission.

Any way, enjoy the video and don’t forget to book your hotel rooms early for Biketoberfest. They are going fast this year.

Daytona Bike Week Live has been set up and I am tweaking the site for mobile content and blogging. Once you are set up, you will be able to send pictures directly to the blog using your cell phone. The web site address for the Bike Week live blog is www.daytonabikeweeklive.com and will be mainly for mobile photo blogging using cell phones and mobile devices.

Bike Week Blog is open, but still being constructed for multi users. This mobile blog will be set up for live blogging from Bike Week from your lap top or other mobile devices. I plan on having more content and news on this site while Daytona Bike Week Live will be mainly for pictures. Those of you who would like to participate and become a contributor on the Bike Week Blog can send me a note or reply to this post and I will set you up with an account. I made a post the other day on how to watch bike week from the Wise Guys Watering Hole web cams and I just captured this shot from their bike week webcam looking down on Main Street Daytona Beach. The weather is looking better, but the winds are still high.

Look for us! We always take pictures on the road, Cindi will have camera ready as we head up to the Cabbage Patch Bar to set up the tent.

I love to camp, but nothing beats camping in a tent during bike week and other motorcycle events. Waking up to the sound of a motorcycle starting up, then another and on to almost a continuous roar of engines gets me revved up for the days work.

We camp and base our bike week operations out of the Cabbage Patch Bar. Camping is very reasonable,  $10.00 a head, per night for tent camping only. This works out well because Cindi and I do a lot of the photo work for the bar web site. Here you can party and walk home!

Bike Week Camping is a lifestyle where you can make new friends and see old friends from the years past. The camp ground gets packed pretty fast, but there is a lot of room in the wooded area across from the bar.

Motorcycle parking for coleslaw wrestling

Wednesday by 10:00 am this is what the place looks like! Motorcycle parking overflow is pushed into the camping area for the world famous cabbage patch coleslaw wrestling. Make note: The women’s coleslaw wrestling is now held on 2 days at the cabbage patch bar. You can now catch all the action on the first Wednesday and second Saturday of Bike Week at the Cabbage Patch Bar, Samsula, Florida.

I figured instead of doing a looking back at the year 2006 (that is over), better to look ahead at the new year 2007.

The first part of the new year is going to bring a lot of travel time for me with the first being a small road trip down to Ft. Lauderdale (about 170 miles) for the grand opening of Orange County Choppers of south Florida on January 6th.

Then on January 11th we are to be back up in the State of Virginia for Cindi’s probate litigation suit. We are hoping that this trip will not be wasted as was the first trip. Well, the trip was wonderful actually, it was a waste in the legal department.

Of course I am already excited and ready for Bike Week 2007 that will be in the first part of March. Daytona Bike Week is going to be from March 2 – 11 this year. It may sound like a long time away, but planning for bike week now is important. I need to begin putting together a bike week schedule and we will soon be announcing what day we will be on the Daytona Loop for our 3 hour photo shoot. We set a few hours aside during bike week 2006 and we took almost 200 pictures for the Daytona Motorcycle Rally Loop Album. This year we will be shooting with two cameras and will even do better coverage of riders on the Volusia County Loop.

Happy New Year Everyone! Here is looking ahead to a great year of rides and motorcycle events. Keep it safe.

Orlando Harley has started holding a bike fest to the west of Daytona and Bruce Rossmeyer has opened a Harley Davidson megaplex north of Daytona in Ormond Beach.  Deland is located between Orlando and Daytona Beach with easy access to Destination Daytona in Ormond.

The Deland Bike Rally plans a bike show, live bands, vendors and demonstrations. This has proved to be quite time consuming, but I intend on having a complete Daytona Motorcycle Rally site that will cover all aspects of the two events. Currently I am adding a photo gallery on both the Bike Week and Biketober edition of the site. The new photo galleries allow visitors to add their event pictures too.

I have maintained a comprehensive travel section that will help future visitors to easily locate event hotel accommodations at Internet discount prices. Especially when it comes to the city Daytona Beach, Florida the Chamber and  visitors bureau. A city that is continually barking about motorcycle events and the debilitation that it brings upon its character. The city of Daytona Beach has announced more than once that they intend to promote more of a family and corporate eye for tourism and wish to downsize events. The web sites that they build and have created would leave you to believe differently, and why not? They are only after the biker buck!

 I am amazed at the flat out plagiarism that has been going on with the sites that are run by paid developers. At a point in time I was flattered at the idea that these so called designers followed me around like a puppy starving for attention, but it has just got out of hand. You all know what I mean. It is like when some guy decides he wants to show off by picking on you because you are the badest looking guy in a crowd. You try real hard to hold your temper and not pop the guy in the face, but he just keeps pushing your buttons any way he can. That is what is going on with these wanna bes. They are pretending to be your friend and mix in with the crowd, the whole time they have their eye on your wallet.

 I tried to communicate and develop a relationship with these people. They refused, stating we primarily promote the Daytona Beach area to families and corporate markets.  The Daytona Area Convention and Visitors Bureau tells me this because I had pictures that did promote family and corporate values. Later as my Biketober site became more popular, and in an act of jealousy, Janet Kersey from the DBCVB writes to me Certified and states that I must not use the word biketoberfest. Biketoberfest is a registered trademark of Daytona Beach and I must remove the word fest from all of my text and graphics.

The letter stated that the word Biketoberfest® is a registered trademark owned by the DBACVB. This letter was different of previous correspondence coming from the non-profit organization in that it did not give a reason why. Previous communication with
the DBACVB stated my site did not promote Daytona Beach as they wanted. The email went on to state ” we primarily promote the Daytona Beach area to families and corporate markets.” Oh really! Recently the cover page of one of the domains that is approved and associated with the DBACVB looked like this:

You can read the story about how all my biker sites started at MNO Photo Bike Week is a 10 day event that is held in Daytona Beach, Florida every year and attracts one of the largest amount of bikers and motorcycle enthusiast. Over the past few years the event has spread out and headed north upwards to the Ormond Beach area.

That is not to say that visitors do not still end up on Main Street in Daytona Beach and the Daytona Beach Hotels still get booked solid every year for the motorcycle event. But the activities have spread out and there are an ever growing number of popular bike week destinations being added to the list of places to go and stay.
