First days of Bike Week 2008

Posted in Bike Week, Blogs, Daytona Beach, Florida, Motorcycle Events, Motorcycle News, Motorcycles, Ormond Beach, Volusia County on March 2nd, 2008

I finally found a place to get online and make a few posts, but to keep everyone up to date on what is going on in Daytona for Bike Week, please be sure to check out the live blogs and Daytona Motorcycle Rally for pictures. I hope to have some videos up too within the next few days, if possible by tomorrow. I am having some problems with Word Press, so Bike Week Blog may have to wait until I can do a software update. In the meanwhile I will be sending some picture updates to Bike Week Live for now.  We will be doing a photo shoot out on the loop one day this week, so keep an eye open for the date to be posted here. I hope to have these problems worked out by tomorrow. If you are in the Daytona and Ormond Beach area keep an eye out for us!

LoJack Reveals 2007 Top Recoveries of Stolen Motorcycles

Posted in Internet, Law, Media, Motorcycle News, Motorcycles, National, News, Press Release on January 30th, 2008

Organized Crime Rings Continue to Fuel Theft; Trend of Selling Stolen Parts Online Persists

WESTWOOD, Mass., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — LoJack Corporation (NASDAQ:LOJN) today unveiled its annual wrap-up of the year’s top recoveries for 2007 involving the LoJack For Motorcycles recovery system. These stories underscore that organized crime rings continue to fuel the growing problem of motorcycle theft. The most recent figures from the National Insurance Crime Bureau indicate that motorcycle theft has jumped a full 137 percent since the year 2000. The recovery stories of 2007 also revealed that today’s thieves continue to leverage newer mediums — such as the Internet — to sell stolen parts and make a profit from this lucrative crime.

“Once again, this year’s best recovery stories highlight that sophisticated crime rings are often behind motorcycle theft and that owners need to do everything possible to protect their bikes,” said Ronald V. Waters, LoJack’s President and COO. “Today’s owners need to be vigilant not only about where they park their motorcycles and how they protect them, but also from what sources they are buying parts and accessories, as evidenced by the growing number of thieves who are selling stolen parts online. We’re proud that the LoJack System has been so instrumental this year in helping police bust chop shops and theft rings across the country and apprehend the criminals behind this crime.”

Below are LoJack’s top motorcycle recoveries for 2007:
– “Biggest Single Chop Shop Recovery” – One LoJack-equipped Suzuki GSX-
R600 led Orlando, FL area police and auto theft investigators to
discover a chop shop with 11 other non-LoJack equipped motorcycles, 8
motorcycle frames, multiple motorcycle parts and tools, with a total
value of $200,000.

– “Fastest Motorcycle Recovery” – In this recovery, a Yamaha YZF750 was
stolen from a locked garage in a gated community outside Denver, CO.
Fortunately, the owners also equipped the bike with LoJack and area
police were able to find the bike only SIX minutes after system
activation.

– “Best Bust Reflecting the Trend of Selling Stolen Parts Online” – In
this recovery, a LoJack-equipped Suzuki GSX600 led Chicago area police
to a chop shop with not only multiple stolen motorcycles and engines,
but also hundreds of stolen motorcycle parts – all readied to be sold
online. Officers discovered that the thieves had more than 200
transactions of selling stolen parts online in the previous six months.

– “Best Recovery From a Bike Rally” – In this recovery, the owner of a
Suzuki GSXR1000 had his bike stolen from a rally in North Myrtle Beach,
SC. Fortunately, he equipped the bike with LoJack and area police not
only recovered his bike within mere hours of system activation, but
also found multiple other stolen motorcycles.

– “Best Recovery Showcasing Strength of RF Technology” – A stolen LoJack-
equipped Yamaha motorcycle led police in Fort Worth, TX to the bike’s
location in a metal building. Thanks to LoJack’s Radio Frequency
technology — which operates even if the stolen asset is in a steel
container, under dense foliage or in a concrete building — the bike
was recovered in only 12 minutes after system activation. This
recovery also uncovered a chop shop with other stolen bikes.

Make it a habit

Posted in Cool Sites, Editorial, Health, Internet, Links, News, Software on January 30th, 2008

We have all heard the saying that old habits are hard to break. We all have our habits, some good maybe a lot are bad. When you think about it, we are all creatures of habit….no this is not a post about cliches. There is a real point to this and it could be something to help many of you make your life better by creating better habits. Yeah, the good habits or maybe break an old bad habit?

I found a site that I will point you to in just a minute where you can do just that, track your habits. Cool huh? even better, the site is free.  Andrew Holz has created a site where you can keep track of your habits in order to build new better habits and maybe trim off some of the old bad habits. The site is called Habitizer and you can check it out here. My thanks go out to Andrew for creating this site and some of the thoughts and resources he has there. I ‘ll let you find them on your own. I hope some of you will find the site useful. Use it to lose weight, quit smoking maybe save up some bucks. Create some healthy habits! You decide and plan your own habits to track.

So check out Habitizer and help yourself out. It will only be between you and well, you. So, I leave you with this thought about habits. Make new habits, they become old habits and see above : )

Super Bowl Ads waiting for the halftime show

Posted in Celebrity, Editorial, Entertainment, Humor, Internet, Internet Video, Media, National, News, Rants and Raves, Shopping, Sports, Super Bowl, Television on January 29th, 2008

Super Sunday is approaching and this year the buzz is all about the Super Bowl advertising. Last year I did a post on Super Bowl facts before the big football game. This year I want to look at the advertisement and the big buzz of what the ads will be like. There are a few super bowl ads sneak previews out there and here I have posted some of the available videos giving us a pre game look at what halftime will bring in 2008. 2.7 million dollars in advertising has been spent by big companies to get to the super bowl this year and while none of the ads are made to make you drop what you are doing to run out and but their product, it is more about brand recognition.

Of course one of the biggest advertiser to hit this mark would be Budweiser. Even if you do not drink beer, you know the name from the super bowl ads. Therefore, if you ever decided to have a beer, what do you think you might ask for? I think you might go for a Bud or bud light. Brand recognition is definitely what Bob Parsons, CEO of Go daddy is shooting for his his version of super bowl advertising. On Bob’s blog, he generates a great deal of excitement about the ads with his readers long before super Sunday. In the past, Parsons has put the rejected ads out for everyone to see to draw in new traffic. This year the approach is a little more on the it is a secret side of the dial. Bob is only allowing a small pinch of the video to be seen and then promising that all 3 ads will be available to be viewed online on February 3rd. While most super bowl advertising shoots toward humor, Bob Parsons uses sex to gain brand recognition. Indy race car driver Danica Patrick might not be a super model, but the Go daddy super bowl ad “exposure” makes her look like one and the ad as well as the ads from previous super bowls are all on one landing page. But now it is time for a commercial break and a word from some parrots? Watch the super bowl ad below

YouTube Preview Image

Yeah right. Just an example of the ads that we laugh at and talk about for a week after the game. Speaking of talking about the ads, You Tube has set up a page where the ads will be shown again and you can vote for your favorite super bowl ad here. One thing for sure, most people watching the game will get up to go to the bathroom before half time. No one wants to miss those super bowl ads!

Britney Spears’ new boyfriend Adnan Ghalib hits motorcycle and leaves!

Posted in Celebrity, Entertainment, Internet, Internet Video, Media, Motorcycle News, Motorcycles, Music, News on January 23rd, 2008
YouTube Preview Image

There are other (shorter) videos of this crash scene, but they do not show Britney and Adnan driving off. Adnan was driving Britney Spears Mercedes after leaving a well known deli together when he bumped a motorcycle causing him to crash. This crash just happened a few hours ago in Hollywood, California as Britney Spears and Adnan Ghalib were being followed by tons of paparazzi. Adnan just asks one of the other paps to get the rider’s info and then says he has to go.

Britney asks if the guys is alright, but then just goes into conversation with one of her followers. The whole time the poor guy who was riding the motorcycle is looking dazed from just being hit. It will amaze me if Ghalib does not get it for hit and run. He certainly does not seem to have a lot of care, but does speed off as if he knows he has done wrong. Watch the video and decide for yourself.

Update: Okay, I found another site that shows the two exchanging information in pictures at http://finalpixxceleb.com/index.php?entry=89 the site also claims that the motorcyclist was heard to say several times that he was at fault. They also claim that there will be a taped interview with both the motorcycle rider and Adnan explaining what happened.

The original story was found on X17online  and the video is courtesy of Hollywood.tv posted on Youtube.com

The longest running Harley blog post!

Posted in Blogs, Cool Sites, Editorial, Entertainment, Internet, Links, Motorcycle News, Motorcycles, News, Rants and Raves on January 13th, 2008

It is amazing some of the things that you will come across while surfing the web. In fact, I have started a collection of pages that I have found and would like to share with my readers.

Today’s link is to a very large and popular blog site with many contributors called Blog Critics Magazine. I mean this site is huge! However, today we will be exploring the culture section where Frank Giovinazzi of Car Buyer’s notebook made a post entitled Harley Davidson – How Do I Hate Thee. Its a rather small post in itself where Frank gives out 11 reasons  why he hates Harley Davidson and the dweebs (as he refers to them) who ride them. The post was made in may of 2003 and only contains 243 words, but to this day the Post still gets traffic and has currently 1745 comments with the last comment being made as of this post at 16:36 on January 12th. That was yesterday in case nobody is paying attention…. this post has been read and commented on for going on 5 years now.

I have to hand it to Frank for making this post. Fact may even be that the man owns a Harley. But whether he does or not is not what it is all about. It is about the controversy that was created by him making the post. The post about hating Harley Davidson that has almost created a meeting hole on the web where people get together on a semi-regular basis to kick sand at each other on everything motorcycle related from helmet laws to owning American vs metric motorcycles.  How ingenious of Mr. Giovinazzi.

Quick tips for shopping parts and accessories on line

Posted in Editorial, Internet, Links, Motorcycles, Parts and Accessories on January 12th, 2008

Nowadays, when you are looking for a good deal on just about anything, you can usually find what you are looking for at the best price in the comfort and security of your own home. On line shopping has become a common place part of the average person’s life that owns a computer with a broadband connection. Even when you might be shopping for Harley Davidson parts, you will most likely find a better price on the Internet.

You can find the best prices on Harley accessories easily just by doing a search on your favorite search engine. Larger search engines such as Google will even offer you a discount and quick check out when you want to buy Harley parts from your computer. Try doing a search for the motorcycle parts and accessories and get your best price on line. You can also use your computer as a tool to get store hours of operation, telephone numbers and maps to stores that you are close to. Another great thing about shopping on the Internet is being able to get hard to find items. Make sure to make a folder in your favorites too! This way when you find a site that has things available that you will want to come back and shop for later, you will not have to search for the site again.
