This is a killer video! 7 minutes of extreme motorcycle crashes. As you watch, notice how the camera person usually ends up running or involved in the crash. There is a part were a race rider comes close to being thrown, but somehow recovers, gets back on and continues. Great motorcycle video and music, Enjoy.

New Book Describes a Woman’s Solo Journey Around the USA on Cranky Russian Motorcycle

Posted in Biker Sites, Cool Sites, Global, Media, Motorcycles, News, Press Release, Rides, Travel on February 9th, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ — Breakdowns in small towns all around America is the theme of a new book titled AMERICAN BORDERS by Carla King, which describes her solo journey around the United States on a Russian Ural sidecar motorcycle.

A motorcycle journey to explore the borders between the United States, Canada, and Mexico quickly becomes a comedy of mechanical, social, and natural disasters. King’s four-month, ten-thousand-mile solo test ride of the newly imported Russian Ural sidecar motorcycle is punctuated by cracked welds and electrical gremlins, evil tow truck drivers, roadside romances, tornadoes and hurricanes.

Woven into the narrative are the intensely personal reflections of a woman traveling alone, the Zen of motorcycle maintenance, and keen observations of America’s diverse landscapes and population. From B.C. to the Blue Ridge, Boquillas to Beverly Hills, American Borders is a unique and intimate exploration of the United States and its neighbors.

“A great read!” says Lonely Planet founder Maureen Wheeler. “Carla takes every breakdown, every weird encounter in her stride with a sense of humor, an eye for the ridiculous, and incredible stoicism. All this, and sex and relationships, too!

“Heartwarming and revealing, readers get to know and love Carla, and get to know themselves a little more in the process,” says Genevieve Schmitt, founder of WomenRidersNow.com. “She’s a true hero, smiling every mile of the way and finding humor in the worst of circumstances.”

The ride gets long and so for comfort you switch to Touring mode. Anna Nicole Smith dead at 39

Posted in Celebrity, Florida, Media, National, News, Newspaper on February 8th, 2007

Anna Nicole Smith — Playboy model, multimillionaire widow, tabloid favorite, new mom — died today after she collapsed at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

Her sudden death at the age of 39 ended a meteoric, scandalous path through the celebrity stratosphere.

An hour after Smith’s collapse, she was pronounced dead at Memorial Regional Hospital, Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said at a press conference.

Smith was in two-bedroom suite with her private nurse at the time she collapsed, Tiger said. The nurse called the hotel operator for help at 1:38 p.m.; seven minutes later, Smith was given CPR by her bodyguard at the Hard Rock before she was taken to the hospital. Smith was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 2:49 p.m.

Auto negligence case against Billy Lane and Dodge set for trial

Posted in Auto Negligence, Brevard County, Case Research, Celebrity, Chopper Builders, DUI, Florida, Law, Local, Motorcycles, News, Titusville on February 7th, 2007

 Titusville Courthouse

(Titusville, Florida) Trial target date set for August 20, 2007 in wrongful death auto negligence case against Billy Lane and DaimlerChrysler Corporation.

Although today’s appearance in the civil case against Billy Lane and Dodge was a calendar hearing, there were some motions presented to the court. Present at the hearing today were Jeffery Vernis, Esq. and Terrance Perkins attorneys for defendant, William D. Lane. William McCandless, attorney for defendant, DaimlerChrysler, was present by telephone. Representing the plaintiff(s) Dolores J. Morelock, Estate of Gerald V Morelock, were S. Sammy Cacciatore and Sammy M. Cacciatore. The hearing was held in chambers of Honorable Judge John D. Moxley Jr. at 1:30 pm today.

Jeffrey Vernis Presented an oral argument to the court on his Motion To Dismiss, filed November 26, 2006, asking the court to dismiss the case against Lane. The Motion To Dismiss states that the plaintiff fails to set forth the required elements of negligence in the complaint filed. Vernis made oral argument before the court on the motion to dismiss while citing the Florida Law, Rules & Guidelines and case law. Cacciatore stated to the court that while he felt the complaint was sufficient, he would be willing to add the word “negligence” to paragraph 9 in an amended complaint. Judge Moxley denied the motion to dismiss and accepted the offer of the amended complaint.

Jeffrey Vernis next approached the court on the Motion For Speedy Trial that was filed by the plaintiff on November 7, 2006. Vernis stated that the motion had been ruled on without being heard and asked that the court entertain his response. Judge Moxley allowed Vernis to go on and then asked if he could be prepared for trial in four and a half months. Vernis called the motion for speedy trial “premature” and stated “your Honor, I would be very shocked if we could be ready for trial in four and a half months.” Judge Moxley upheld the motion for speedy trial and set the trial to be heard on August 20, 2007.

William McCandless, attorney for DaimlerChrysler was to speak to the court by telephone about the affirmative defenses that he had filed on November 15, 2006, but McCandless had another call and disconnected from the hearing.

Steve Coe and Daytona Vintage Racing

Posted in Chopper Builders, Daytona Beach, Florida, Local, Motorcycle Pictures, Motorcycles, News, Racing on February 4th, 2007

Steve Allen Coe

I first met Steve Coe during bike week 2005. He had is vintage motorcycle museum set up at the Cabbage Patch Bar. Taking a walk into the tractor trailer that has been converted into a mobile motorcycle museum you see he has quite a bit of motorcycle history inside. A couple of Harley-Davidson vintage race bikes, an antique Daytona Fire Department motorcycle and a V8 motorcycle called the Chevy-Davidson!

The chevy-davidson motorcycle

The Chevy Davidson motorcycle one of only two known to exist.

1948 Harley Hummer

1948 Harley Hummer

1932 Harley 750

1932 Harley 750

Notice the number 213 on the Harley Hummer? Not only does Steve Coe collect and maintain these motorcycles himself, he races them. Coe has finished every race that he has started. You can catch Steve Coe at the Daytona International Speedway during bike week as he races in the vintage class C hand shift series on March 6th.

Steve Coe loads up his vintage motorcycles on race day.

So you think, wow that is a big collection of vintage motorcycles? The motorcycles contained in the mobile museum is only a drop in the bucket of Steve’s collection. If you have been to Daytona Beach you have probably noticed the Klassix Museum in the past. That museum used to house Steve’s collection which he now keeps at home. I visited Steve at his home to see more and continue this story in another post. Be sure to visit Daytona Vintage Racing to learn more about Steve Coe, his racing and his collection.

Two attorneys appear for Billy Lane – DUI Manslaughter Case continued

Posted in Brevard County, Case Research, Celebrity, Chopper Builders, DUI, Florida, Investigative Reports, Law, Local, Melbourne, Motorcycles, News on February 2nd, 2007

(Melbourne, Florida) Billy Lane criminal case calendar call, February 2, 2007.

I had reported on January 19th that Billy Lane had changed attorneys to represent him in the DUI Manslaughter case that was set for calendar call today. The report, it seems, was incorrect. It was learned earlier today that Lane has added an attorney to the case. Two attorneys stood before Judge Allawas at the Viera courthouse in Brevard County, Florida to request the case be set for calendar call
on March 23, 2007.

Attorney Keith Szachacz, Esq.Keith F. Szachacz, Esq. appeared for the law office of Funk, Szachacz & Diamond, LLC.

Attorney Robert Ralph Berry Robert Ralph Berry was present representing the law offices of Eisenmenger, Berry & Peters, P.A. Berry, stood behind Szachacz and agreed to the new date of March 23. Judge Allawas asked if Defendant, Lane was present and both attorneys stated that Billy Lane was not present today. The Judge asked if Lane was being represented by both offices. Judge Allawas remarked “that scares me” when it was confirmed that Billy Lane was being represented by both.

Billy Lane also has a related civil case pending were he and ChryslerDaimler are being sued for auto negligence and the wrongful death of Gerald Morelock. This case has been scheduled for February 7th 2007 at the Titusville Courthouse.

Super Bowl Facts

Posted in Editorial, Entertainment, Food, Media, National, News, Shopping, Sports, Super Bowl, Television, Upcoming events on February 1st, 2007

With the approach of Super Bowl this weekend, I thought I would post some interesting game stats. These stats are not for the football game, rather they are statistics surrounding the super bowl and how it effects the media.

  • Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts sports merchandise have seen a dramatic rise in retail sales this year.
  • More women are drawn to the Indianapolis Colts
than the Chicago Bears. Data show that 59% of Indianapolis women are Colts fans,
vs. 46% of Chicago women who are Bears fans.
  • The 2006 Super Bowl was the highest rated TV show
of the year, attracting more than 90 million U.S. viewers.
  • The cost for a 30-second TV advertisement reached
an all-time high in 2006, while traditional advertiser categories continued to
    dominate the broadcast.
  • Super Bowl advertisers in 2006 saw a sharp
increase in visits to their web sites following the big game.
  • Album sales of the Super Bowl halftime performers
soared in the week following their appearance in the halftime show.
  • Box office figures continue to plunge on Super
    Bowl Sunday.
  • Sales of soft drinks, beer and chips rise
    significantly before the Super Bowl.

Comparing last year’s Super Bowl food preferences in the two markets that are
home to this year’s teams – Chicago and Indianapolis – there are some noteworthy
similarities and difference between the two cities. Looking at the largest
overall percentage of sales increases, both markets showed strong sales growth
in cocktail franks and processed cheese loaves. However, Chicago area
supermarkets showed strong growth in sales of frozen unbreaded crab,
refrigerated fruit, dip mixes, and dairy dips; while Indianapolis area
supermarkets experienced bumps in the sales of ‘Miracle Whip’ type salad
dressing, frozen hors d’ oeuvres & snacks, brownie mixes, and bratwurst
& knockwurst.

A consumer segmentation analysis from the marketing company Spectra revealed
some of the unique characteristics of Super Bowl viewers from Miami,
Indianapolis, and Chicago compared with national professional football fans.
Utilizing Spectra’s BehaviorScape framework, viewer characteristics can be
determined based upon BehaviorStages (which bring to life key household factors
that impact consumer purchasing behavior), and LifeStyles, (which further
differentiate consumers by highlighting affluence and the neighborhood type in
which they live).
For instance, most viewers of professional football across the U.S. typically
watch on the weekend one or more times per month, and tend to come from affluent
neighborhoods from a variety of household types. They span across all
neighborhood types and tend to skew toward couples 35+ without children in the
household as well as singles under 35 with no children. Popular Super Bowl
snacks that skew highly across the average US viewer are bags of nuts, brats,
popcorn, and frozen poultry.
Super Bowl viewers in the host city of Miami watch the game on TV live in
both urban and affluent suburban households across household types.
Indianapolis residents who watched the Super Bowl last year generally come
from rural and downscale suburban neighborhoods. Additionally:
– Indianapolis viewers purchase above average amounts of sausage, buns,
and brats than the average viewer.– Indianapolis viewers are likely to do their grocery shopping (possibly
for Super Bowl snacks) at Wal-Mart, Aldi, or Kroger.

– There is also a very high concentration of Super Bowl viewers who are
likely to shop in smaller accounts such as IGA and Buehler’s Buy Low.

Chicago residents who watched the Super Bowl last year likely live in urban
and affluent suburban households across household types. Additionally:

– Viewers in Chicago tend to purchase more bagged nuts, beer, frozen
poultry and meat than the average viewer.

– Chicago viewers are likely to do their grocery shopping (possibly for
Super Bowl snacks) in Dominick’s, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods.

There is also a very high concentration of Super Bowl viewers who are likely
to shop in smaller accounts such as Wild Oats and Sunset Food Marts.

So by the numbers, it looks like on Super Bowl Sunday Americans prefer to eat tortilla chips, drink light beer but regular soda throw some frozen steaks and chicken on the grill while munching on cocktail franks. It appears that there is a toss up in dipping your tortilla chips on eating prepared nachos. Either way we seemed to have consumed over 10 million dollars in tortilla chips and drink over 17 million dollars worth of beer washing them down.

These facts and statistics were compiled by and found at Nielsen Media Research, please visit their site for complete details.
