Habitual DUI offender kills motorcyclist

(Titusville, Florida) James E. Bremmer, 53, of Titusville has had his driver licensed revoked for more than 5 years for arrests on 3 DUIs back in 1998. The charges were enough to mark him as a habitual offender, yet he was driving a borrowed pick up truck on Sunday night and veered into the path of 52 year old motorcyclist Dennis Bestwick. The pick up truck that Bremmer was driving side swiped Bestwick while riding his motorcycle northbound on US 1 killing him.

Bremmer has been charged with DUI manslaughter, driving with a suspended license, violation of right of way and DUI with property damage. Trooper Kim Miller also noted that if someone lent Bremmer the truck on a revoked license, that person could face fines for allowing an unauthorized driver access.

Because, Trooper Kim Miller, the public information officer for the FHP does not recognize me as a news source, I have to refer to a story just released to the mass media published in the Sun Sentinel for this post.

      Does this ring a bell?
In this post, for those who question “why” DaimlerChrysler is being sued along with Billy Lane, here you have an example.

Wow, you’d think that this guy will definately get the max. Not because he’s poor or of non-celebrity status, but because of the three priors!! There seems to be enogh evidence against Lane but I still think a prior conviction on Lane would really seal the deal for the Morelocks.
If Morelock had been sober I think the chrysler case would be very strong.
It sounds like florida has a big problem with drunk driving.

So true is your comment Mike. Yes, it does ring as bell. As usual you are 100% correct….again. This dude is facing a maximum of 15 years as well. I do not know why you are not recognized as a news source. You report only facts that you do deep research to back up. GOOD WORK, yet again.

Florida will put in jail longer for drunk driving than if you shot and killed someone in a fit of anger. Sad but true. The jails are so full of DUI’s, minor drug offenses, driving on suspended license and unpaid child support. They are taxing our properties more to pay for building jails because the jails are overcapacity on a daily basis. Most people do not get to show up in a Lexus with four lawyers and bond out immediately after being booked. Most sit in jail till the next court hearing and then might get out on bond or bail.

Yes, more people are in jail in Florida for DUI’s, driving on suspended license, minor drug charges and I do mean minor and unpaid child support. You spend less time if you shot and kill someone in a fit of anger. The jails in FL. are overcapacity on a daily basis. Our great state keeps jacking up our property taxes to pay to build new jails.
