Lane and the Daimlerchrysler Corporation as defendants for auto negligence stemming from the fatal crash that happened on September 4th involving Choppers Inc. Owner, Billy Lane. Gerald Morelock, 56, of Melbourne Beach was pronounced dead at the scene. Billy Lane faces charges of DUI/Manslaughter in the death of Gerald Morelock.

I knew this was going to happen. I am not so sure that the Morelocks will be able to dig into Dodge Corps. pocket. Next we will see the passenger in the truck also filing suit. Can you just imagine how many ambulance chasing lawyers have been bugging these people. Big question? Did Dodge know about the North Carolina DUI or what happened here in Florida? What a mess. Some poor guy is dead just coming from work. Billy was less than a mile from his home according to reports. Hope that what happens in North Carolina tomorrow is reported.

Yes, I do not think this will be the only suit to be filed over this. I am working hard on keeping up on the latest, so I will try to have something on the NC hearing tomorrow.
Thanks for the comments,

I was told that Billy Lane had just received the three loaned Dodge vehicles only two weeks before the accident that killed Mr. Morelock. If that is in fact true [which I do not know...heresay] then Billy Lane did not have a valid Florida Drivers license because the State of North Carolina had already taken them when he was arrested ther for DUI and refused to blow. Is it true that after your refuse sobriety tests twice you lose your drivers license for life under the implied consent you agree to when you sign your drivers license??

Sandie,
I have pictures of the truck back in May, but he has had them since before then. Dodge was the sponsor of the Blood Sweat and Gears tour which was a part of the Bike Week demonstration that he did on stage during the event in March of 2006.
However, that certainly does not release the responsibility of the company in this action. As the owner of a vehicle, you are made aware of possible rate increases due to pending tickets and/or accidents by those of the drivers you have listed for the vehicle. ; )
